Diarrhea and Diaper Rash
Karter and I caught the nasty stomach bug that was going around while we were up in Lake George. I got it and thought sending Karter and Craig to my parents for the night they would avoid catching it. Well that backfired because Karter, Craig and my mom ended up getting it. Karter had such bad diarrhea he had the worst diaper rash I have ever seen. It was so pitiful to see him in so much pain. It got so bad that he was bleeding. We tried 3 differnt rx cream (even spent $300 on vusion cream to get him better because our insurance didn't cover it) and nothing helped. Dr Montague finally looked at him and said it was a burn and not a typical yeast infection that diaper rash is... so she prescribed silverdine burn cream and it started to clear up. It was so bad he has battle scars on his butt. This was the first time I heard painful cries from Karter. One night I was crying with him and felt so helpless. As a mom I wanted nothing more than to alleviate his pain and discomfort even if it meant I would take it on myself.

20 week sonogram
We could have found out the sex but we decided not to. It was so exciting not knowing with Karter we wanted to keep guessing again until the very last minute. The tech referred to the baby as "his"... was it a slip up??? We will so find out...
If I had to guess right now I would say... A GIRL
This pregnancy is different than with Karter. 1. It's not all about me this time around and I'm not consumed with it because I am busy Karter and my new life. 2. I'm not stressed with work 3. I have not been working out regularly or doing yoga and I definitely feel the difference. - more aches and pains. 4. Craving vegetables and more vegetables and 5. My heartburn isn't nearly as bad
What hasn't changed - I DO NOT SLEEP. I am up on average for 1-2 hours at night - usually between 2 and 4. I don't have any problem falling asleep but once I wake to go to the bathroom - that's it I'm done and can't fall back asleep.
I have an appointment with Dr Dicker to talk about vbac. I am hoping I can deliver vaginally because if I have a c section I won't be able to pick up Karter for a while and will have to depend on help around the clock. Only time will tell.

1st Haircut
It was about that time that Karter got a haircut. I definitely wasn't trained to cut hair as I proved trying to cut his hair so he can see. While waiting to get his hair cut one of the women told her son that the "little girl was next in line to get her hair cut". So we weren't at the right place at the right time!

NYE 2010
We spent new years eve with the Donlan's this year. Becca, Chris, J and Burton took the train to Suffern. We stayed up to watch the ball drop - pretty impressive!

Boycotting Naps
Karter decided he wasn't going to nap in his crib any more. This was a very scary time for me as I thought he was finished with his naps and my break from him during the day was very important for my sanity. It was especially freighting because I know I would need a break when #2 arrives. I tried everything from getting into his crib with him, letting him cry it out to rocking him to sleep and NOTHING worked. As soon as I put him into the crib he woke and screamed. He had no problem sleeping on me or in the car but when it came to his crib he had no part of it. The way I described it was as taking away a weekend for someone who works full time.

12 week sonogram
Isn't it amazing how developed the fetus looks at just 12 weeks! All of the test came out normal. We had a slight scare. My blood test for Fanconi Anemia came back as a carrier - a rare inherited blood disorder that leads to bone marrow failure. Craig had to get tested to see if he was also a carrier. After a long two weeks of waiting we got the GOOD news that he was not a carrier - so there is no chance of passing it along to our children.
