Maslowsky Baby Shower

Thank you Barb, Joe, Stace and Aunt Rose for throwing a wonderful shower. I really appreciate everyone's thoughtful gifts. The baby got a few homemade quilts & blankets. Aunt Stace had a bib made for the baby that says "My Big Brother Lionel Loves Me" with a picture of Lionel! Between both showers Craig and I got just about everything off our registry and more!

Earth Day Boston with Suzanne, Rebecca and Chris

Memorial Day weekend Suzanne, Rebecca and Chris came to Boston. Lionel got to meet Burton, Chris and Rebecca's new puppy, for the first time and now he has a new BFF. Lionel was very gentle with Burton and we took this as a great sign that he recognized that Burton was a "baby" and took it easy with him. The weather over the weekend was perfect. Earth Fest was Saturday at the Hatch Shell. Cracker, BoDeans and Cake played on the main stage and we left with some free samples of some organic and healthy foods. On Sunday everyone pitched in to move us out of our apartment into our new rental unit on the 11th floor in the same building.
I love Burton as much as Lionel does.

5/19 - Jon Lester throws a NO - HITTER

I got Red Sox tickets from the owner of my company for Monday May 19th against the Royals. Craig and I knew how great the seats were because we sat in them last season but we didn't realize we were going to be apart of Red Sox history. Just two years after facing cancer, left-hander Jon Lester threw the 18th no-hitter in Red Sox history -- and the fourth of this decade -- by blanking the Royals, 7-0, at Fenway Park.

Take a look at how close we are to the Red Sox dugout!

Recap my 2nd Trimester

When they call the second trimester the "Honeymoon" stage of pregnancy - they're right! I felt the best during this trimester. I had all the energy in the world, although my one complaint is that I didn't sleep very well. I can see how some women love to be pregnant. I finally started to show and people recognized I was pregnant and not just gaining a few pounds. I felt the baby kick for the first time during this trimester, and they haven't stopped since! I have nothing to compare to, but I think my baby is a very active one. I can see my belly move when the baby moves. I sit at work and giggle every time this happens. I also noticed how forgetful I have become and my attention span is pretty much none existent at this point. For example, in meetings at work I have been caught daydreaming on more than one occasion. I have been asked a question and I had to admit that I had no clue what the conversation is about. I have a good excuse though, so I'm not too worried! The one complaint I have is sharp shooting pains in my stomach right below my right breast around my rib. I went to see the doctor because it was pretty painful and he said it sounds like your muscle and ligaments are tearing because your stomach is expanding. He said it in such a nonchalant way, so I guess internal tearing isn't a big problem!

2 Weekends in a row in Boston!

Last weekend Stace was in town for our friend's wedding. The wedding was in Rhode Island but we just went for the night. The wedding was fun - sober dancing isn't that bad…. It was great to see Stace and spend some time with her. I got my first Mother's (to be) Day Card from Stace! This weekend we are in Boston AGAIN (very rare). Tomorrow we are taking the Prepared Childbirth Classes from 9:30 - 4:30 so it will be a long day and I'm sure I'll have a whole different perspective of what labor will be like after the class. We went to the Breast Feeding Class on Thursday. It was really informative and included some interesting footage... It will be time consuming, ie - feeding every two hours if necessary, but it will certainly be worth all the time and effort.

Babymoon and 2nd Anniversary in FL

Craig and I went to FL and stayed at my parent’s house in Boynton Beach 4/29 - 5/4 for our last vacation together before the baby is born and to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary. The weather was perfect the whole time we were there - 75 and sunny every day! We did a lot of relaxing. We went to the beach one day, the pool another day, a music and art festival in Ft Lauderdale and very appropriately saw "Baby Mama" one night.

1st Annual BREATH for NATE Walk 08' (4/26/08)

Nate was a close family friend of the Maslowsky's. Craig grew up with him and his family in Albany. His mother (Aunt Sandy) is Craig's Godmother and he loves and cares for her very much. Nate had Cystic fibrosis and was on the waiting list for a new lung, but unfortunately he passed away on 4/25/07 at Children's Hospital in Boston. He was only 16. I got to see Nate a few days before he passed and the day before. He seemed to be in a lot of pain and was having difficulty breathing. Craig and I were at the hospital the day he passed away. It was one of the saddest days of my life. No family should have to go through something like that. We created a bond with Sandy and Carlee (Nate's Sister) that means a great deal to us. Nate was a great person who loved girls, small engine repairs, computers, school and his friends and family. Every year in April Aunt Sandy and Carlee are organizing a walk in memory of Nate. Everyone walking was encouraged to collect donations. They set up a foundation in his name and the money collected will go towards a scholarship for a student in his high school and the other half of the donations are going to the Cystic fibrosis foundation. Next year Aunt Sandy would like to donate to an organization that gives out gift baskets at the hospital for Cystic fibrosis patients. She said Nate looked forward to his gift basket every time he was admitted to Albany Med, where he spent a lot of time. At our wedding, Craig and I donated money to the Cystic fibrosis Foundation in honor of Nate. We miss him very much. He's in a better place where where we know he's breathing freely.

Next year we'll be walking with the baby!

NYC and Chi-town

NYC - On March 29, I went into the New York City for a Cortland girl's night. Becca, Danielle, Missy, Candice and I got massages at a local spa during the day. Sat night we had busy night going out to eat at a Tapas restaurant and then headed over to a bar to sing karaoke... the baby was kicking throughout the night so I'm assuming Myron (grandpa Joe's name for the bay) didn't seem to mind the loud music and singing.

The Windy City -Craig and I went to Chicago last weekend (April 11-13), as you can tell we're trying to get as many trips in as we can before the baby arrives, to visit Brian and Suzanne. It was a weekend filled with delicious food, great company, lots of laughs and even golf lessons. Surprisingly my belly didn't get in the way of perfecting my swing. The instructor was "shocked" when Sue hit the ball 146 yards into the screen with a 7 iron! We were even awarded frequent visitor points by Sue and Bri for coming.... On Sunday Suzanne and I got pedicures. I opted for a chair massage and Sue got a manicure. After relaxing at the salon we took a prenatal Pilates class. NO - Suzanne isn't pregnant; she's a great friend who wanted to try out Pilates and was willing to take a class filled with pregnant women.
