NYC and Chi-town

NYC - On March 29, I went into the New York City for a Cortland girl's night. Becca, Danielle, Missy, Candice and I got massages at a local spa during the day. Sat night we had busy night going out to eat at a Tapas restaurant and then headed over to a bar to sing karaoke... the baby was kicking throughout the night so I'm assuming Myron (grandpa Joe's name for the bay) didn't seem to mind the loud music and singing.

The Windy City -Craig and I went to Chicago last weekend (April 11-13), as you can tell we're trying to get as many trips in as we can before the baby arrives, to visit Brian and Suzanne. It was a weekend filled with delicious food, great company, lots of laughs and even golf lessons. Surprisingly my belly didn't get in the way of perfecting my swing. The instructor was "shocked" when Sue hit the ball 146 yards into the screen with a 7 iron! We were even awarded frequent visitor points by Sue and Bri for coming.... On Sunday Suzanne and I got pedicures. I opted for a chair massage and Sue got a manicure. After relaxing at the salon we took a prenatal Pilates class. NO - Suzanne isn't pregnant; she's a great friend who wanted to try out Pilates and was willing to take a class filled with pregnant women.

Love that Dirty Water...

BOSTON YOU'RE MY HOME!

Cheryl came to Boston this weekend and we took a tour of Fenway Park. She claims she is a true "baseball fan" and that's the only reason why she would step foot in Fenway, the oldest ball park in history. If you ask me she secretly likes the Red Sox, I even saw her cheering for them during the Rangers game last night. Craig, Cheryl and I got $12 bleacher seats to the game. The baby got to hear the roar of the crowd when Manny Ramirez hit a two-run homer off the light tower in left to lift the Red Sox to a 5-3 win. The homer may have cleared the Cask n' Flagon on Lansdowne Street if it didn't ricochet off the far-left light tower on its way over the Green Monster.

Addition to Registry

I have decided to take some early childhood classes with the baby. Suzanne suggested that I register for them, which was a fantastic idea, thanks! I am adding to my "registry" gift certificates to Gymboree Play and Music. I would like to enroll in the Mommy and Baby Fitness Yoga, Baby Sign and the Music class. You can purchase the gift certificates on their website or you can call them. Below is there info:

Unit 508 - Under Agreement!

On Sunday we got an offer on our condo. After going back and forth 3 times on a price we signed an agreement last night. Craig and I are very happy with the final negotiated offer. We aren't getting our hopes up because nothing is certain until the closing. The inspection is scheduled for this Saturday. April 20th is the Purchase and Sales signing then they close May 31st. The nice thing is that the buyer (a dr at MGH) is only taking out a loan for $150k because her parents are putting down the balance as the down payment. I don’t see how a bank will not lend them the money.... We are keeping our fingers cross that everything works out, please do the same!

Baby Registry

This weekend my parents and Bonnie came to visit and we all went to Babies R us to Register. The process went very smoothly with Bonnie's help (she just became a Grandi last year), the employees at Babies R Us and asking new parents walking through the store for advice. I also did some research on consumerreports.com which was very helpful. Here is a link to our registry. If I am missing anything, feel free to let me know. Bonnie, Mike and Keswha are giving us and my mom some of their baby gear and clothes that baby G grew out of which is extremely thoughtful and generous.

Baby Registry

Easter weekend I was in Albany and Tara was nice enough to go through her baby registry with me and show me all the items you need for a newborn. The plan was to spend some time at her house to go through the registry then go to Babies R Us to walk through the store to get a better idea of the selection of items. After about 1.5 hours at her house I felt no need to go to Babies R Us. I was a bit overwhelmed by the amount of stuff a child needs and the amount of room you need to store everything. For example the baby might need a cradle, pack n play and of course a crib to sleep in. When the baby isn’t sleeping and you are on the go you will need a travel system with about 3 car seats, a lightweight and/or a jogger stroller. If you don’t feel like pushing the baby around you can opt for a front or maybe even a back carrier. The options sound limitless. My mom, dad and Bonnie are coming to Boston this weekend and we’re going to start our registry so we can send out the shower invitations. I am going to look at consumer reports to find the safest and most reliable items, which will probably be the most inexpensive I’m sure. I am exhausted thinking and writing about this so enough... I’ll let you know how it goes after the weekend.

I forgot to mention that I got to spend time with Cooper (Tara's son). He is so cute and such a happy baby! I had a great time with him when Tara went to pick up lunch for us, it didn’t take much to make him laugh.

Snoogle

Craig and I (and Lionel, it's actually more his bed than ours) have a king size bed but recently it feels like a twin because of my new purchase - THE SNOOGLE. It's a maternity pillow. Instead of trying to explain what it looks like here is a link with a picture.

http://www.allegromedical.com/maternity-care-c527/comfort-body-pillow-maternity-pillow-p555137.html?engine=froogle&utm_source=froogle&utm_medium=feed

The website explains all the benefits such as "The Snoogle Body Pillow Maternity pillow is the ultra comfortable maternity pillow that provides gentle support for expecting mothers that have to sleep on their left side." It is quite large and somewhat obnoxious but in all seriousness it makes for a pleasant night sleep, relatively speaking, with less tossing and turning. One piece of important information that they do not promote on the website is that it's a nice barrier from boston terriers that need to be touching every inch of their owner’s body when they sleep. I do feel like I am wrapped in a cocoon, but it’s worth it and I would recommend it to any pregnant women who is having trouble sleeping.
